Gary was born in Columbus, Ohio but considers South Carolina his home. His family has lived here since transferring from Tripoli, Libya in 1969. A graduate of Summerville High School and the Citadel, he received his Master’s of Divinity from Trinity School for Ministry and was ordained a Priest in 2014. He and six others were called to plant St. Timothy’s Church(s) in the growing area of Berkeley County. He is comfortable with those like himself who have questions and he believes that ambiguity is a strength, not a weakness, when serving the Lord. He is married to Susan who works at St Johns Parish and they have three children and one daughter-in-law. He loves reading, exercise, good food, and certainly the shared drink among friends. He feels led by the Holy Spirit to grow our church by sharing all our lives together and one relationship at a time. He is certain that the Millennials who were raised in the church will return when they come to understand the world doesn’t hold the answers, only Jesus Christ and his shared grace and love do. That reason is what brought him into the privilege of full-time ordained ministry.
Laurie attended St.Paul’s Summerville for 15 years before feeling that she was being called to join the Church planting team in the growing area of Berkeley County. She has done two units of Clinical Pastoral Care education, one at Roper - St. Francis and one at the Franke retirement community in Mt. Pleasant, SC. During her time at Franke, she realized her passion for Pastoral Care, especially for more “seasoned” people. She was commissioned as a Lay Chaplain in 2012 and has felt blessed to be able to walk beside people as they journey through life.
